SCREEN DOOR

Screen Door has been a beloved Portland destination for Southern cuisine with a Pacific Northwest twist since 2006. Independently owned by Louisiana natives Nicole and David Mouton, the restaurant blends warm Southern hospitality with the region’s commitment to fresh, local ingredients. Inspired by memories of family gatherings on screened-in porches, Screen Door invites guests to connect over scratch-made dishes in a welcoming, relaxed setting. With two Portland street-side locations and an outpost at Portland International Airport, the restaurant is known for its signature buttermilk-battered fried chicken, shrimp and grits, mac & cheese, and pies that celebrate the deep traditions of Southern foodways.

Culinary director Dominic Finzo leads a new generation of Southern chefs, combining classical technique with a reverence for tradition and a modern Northwest sensibility. Screen Door’s menus reflect this balance—hearty comfort dishes made with ingredients from local farms like Siri and Sons, Wobbly Cart, and Flying Coyote. Brunch draws long lines for chicken and waffles, praline bacon, and fluffy biscuits, while dinner highlights seasonal specialties and Southern-inspired sides.

At the Pearl location, a Theater Menu caters to pre-show diners, and new offerings like Pork Secreto Steak with spring vegetables and cornbread pudding show the creative evolution of a restaurant rooted in both place and tradition.
